Chris Kern''s photography services combines classic knowledge of traditional photographic portraiture and lighting with an innovative and contemporary style. Though his vision he captures memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.
Chris was born and raised in London, England where he was interested in art from early school days. His passion for photography was developed over years of studying art, composition, and design.
He first picked up a camera in 1997, shooting 35mm film and has never looked back.
Photography is very similar to portrait paintings from the early days. It allows you to capture a moment in time forever. Just as the old artists used portraits to flatter and enhance people's features and personalities, so does Portrait photography.
Everyone wants to be seen in their best light. I want people to have images of themselves that is the way they see themselves, and how they want the world to see them.
I have done a wide variety of photography since I started taking pictures. Everything from Weddings, fashion, wildlife to Landscapes, motorsport, and Portraiture.
I found my passion in portrait photography as this is one of the most challenging and rewarding areas of photography. I get my greatest pleasure seeing the reactions to my clients when they get to see their finished images.
This is what makes me do what I do.
Glamour because everyone wants to look like a celebrity. Glamour genre allows everyone to live out their fantasy of being a movie star, or a world famous fashion model. You get hair, makeup, to put on fabulous clothes, and get to forget about your daily life for a day.
And at the end of it, you get to share and show these beautiful images of yourself to your friends, family and loved ones.
Everyone wants to feel special.
Ive been a Nikon shooter since I bought my first DSLR in 2002. I find Nikon has been an easy camera to pick up and shoot, and their range of lenses, and speedlights have always worked well for me. In addition to this in the studio, I use a range of lighting equipment and modifiers from Bowens, Elinchrome, to Godox. Right now I have a full setup of Godox portable light modifiers which allow me to shoot anywhere.
Capturing the moment. capturing a natural expression. Showing someone as they are, and keeping that moment forever. Everyday we are changing, and having photographs of you as you are which will be kept for many years after you are gone, is the most precious thing your family will have
I look at post-processing (photoshop) as a final finishing touch to images, but I have always said its best to get everything right in camera. Photoshop cannot put life back into someone's eyes, or a natural beautiful smile on someone's face. It cannot capture the mood at that moment the photo is taken. This is the true art of photography. Photoshop can correct things which may have been missed at the moment and it can give a consistent look to photos.
No! I also shoot men, and kids, but I get the most joy out of the female form and beauty. The right makeup and light can transform a woman into something different. I love transformations and so do my female cleints.
Both. But each has a different purpose and creates a different tone and mood. I love to shoot natural light, indoors or out but when you are at the mercy of nature, and your time is limited. Studio light can always be used to deliver a great finished image no matter if its midday or midnight.
